The product · Matters & clients
The file, and everything that has ever happened to it.
Matters, the clients behind them, the parties on both sides, and the intake checks that have to clear before any of it starts.
In the application: Matters · Clients · Documents
- Matters with parties, not just titles
- Every matter carries its client, its responsible advocate, its type, its value and the parties on each side — so a conflicts search has something to search and a fee note has something to bill to.
- Conflict checking across every matter
- The one search in the product that deliberately reads across matter walls, because an advocate cannot discharge the duty while seeing only their own files. Gated on a firm-admin permission, scoped to your firm alone, and audited with the names that were searched.
- Client due diligence, with a gate
- The verification file a reporting institution has to keep: identity documents, the risk rating, and an incomplete file that stands between a client and a new matter rather than being noticed at an audit.
- A timeline that includes the email
- Each matter has its own drop address. Mail sent to it is filed to that matter as correspondence, beside the documents, tasks, events, comments and billing already on the timeline.
- Comments where the work is
- Threaded comments on the matter and on the records inside it, so the discussion about a file lives on the file rather than in a chat nobody can find in a year.
- Client statements
- What a client has been billed, what they have paid, what is outstanding and what is held for them in the client account — as one statement, per client, in each currency separately.
What this does not do
The boundary, from us rather than from your first week.
- A conflicts search matches the names your firm has recorded. A name spelled differently, a beneficial owner nobody entered, or a matter not yet on the system will not appear — and a clean search is never recorded as a clearance, only as a search a named advocate then decided on.
- Due diligence records what your firm collected and rated. Nothing is screened against a sanctions list or a PEP register: there is no screening provider wired in, and where none is configured nothing is screened and nothing is recorded as screened.
